Scientific information remains useful only when its source, methods, population and limitations stay attached to the reported result.

The intervention and setting were tightly defined

A single-centre, prospective, double-masked, placebo-controlled phase 2 study randomized 72 qualifying participants with moderate to severe dry eye to a topical ophthalmic thymosin β4 solution or placebo for 28 days. The study used a controlled adverse-environment model.

This is not a general study of thymosin β4 in every formulation or context. The population, topical ophthalmic intervention, duration and outcome instruments define exactly what the paper examined.

Evidence should become more specific as a claim becomes more consequential.

The primary endpoints and secondary findings should be reported together

The publication named ocular discomfort and inferior corneal staining as its primary efficacy endpoints at the final assessment. It reported no statistically significant between-group difference for either primary endpoint, while reporting statistically significant differences for selected secondary measures.

This pattern is why readers should distinguish prespecified primary outcomes from secondary outcomes. Secondary observations may be informative, but they do not erase the result for the trial’s main question.

The EternaGen reporting standard
  • Link to the original source.
  • Name the study design and population.
  • Report the observed endpoint factually.
  • Disclose important limitations.
  • Never convert trial reporting into a product recommendation.

A topical eye study cannot be generalized across products

The study was small, single-centre and short in duration, and it used a specific investigational ophthalmic formulation within a controlled model. Its findings cannot establish results for another route, material, population or research application.

This page reports the source context without offering treatment advice. It does not validate any EternaGen material for human or veterinary use, including topical use.
